Lady in Gil (with follow-ups Scion's Lady and Lady Pain) was one of the best fantasy books I have ever read! And I've read Donaldson, Feist, Jordan, Goodkind, Hobb, Jones, McCaffrey, etc. First of all, the books are quite short, which is refreshing. Secondly, if you're tired 5/5. The Girl Who Played with Fire (Swedish: Flickan som lekte med elden) is the second novel in the best-selling Millennium series by Swedish writer Stieg was published posthumously in Swedish in and in English in January The book features many of the characters who appeared in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (), among them the title character, Lisbeth Salander, a Author: Stieg Larsson.

Books about girls are having a serious moment in the spotlight. Female-driven thrillers are flying off the bookshelves, and being adapted into blockbusters faster than Ryan Gosling can say, “Hey Author: Emma Oulton. View the profiles of people named Lady Gil. Lady in Gil sucked me in right from the opening line. Like all good writers can, Rebecca Bradley brought Tigrallef to life - actually made him real. Tigrallef's personality - no, most chracters in this book are beautifully portrayed and rounded out rather well.

I /5. Lady in Gil is the first of a trilogy that follows the adventures of Tigrallef. Told in first person narrative, the novel has a punch lacking in quite a few fantasy novels with a quest storyline. Put simply, a nasty group of conquerors, the Sherank, have brutally acquired Tig's homeland.4/5(29).

Lady in Gil is a stand alone book. One does not need to read the other two books that follow, but most will feel compelled to continue reading about Tig and his misadventures. Rebecca Bradley does a masterful job of characterization, but her strongest point is plot development and pace.4/5(29).

About a thousand years before, Oballef the first came to Gil in a rowboat, climbed to the top of the Gilgard, a great flat-topped plug of volcanic rock, held over his head a glowing object about the size and shape of his forearm, and a golden cloud emitted from the object rolled across the entire surface of the island.4/5.

In the seventy years since the barbarous occupation of the kingdom of Gil, its exiled Scions have tried time and again to recover the legendary Lady in Gil--a statue whose powers will overthrow their usurpers.

But none has succeeded. Now, Gil's destiny lies in the hands of an unlikely hero. Rebecca Bradley. Rebecca Bradley was born in Vancouver, Canada in She received a Ph.D. from Cambridge in archeology, and spent eighteen years living in England, Ulster, Kuwait and Hong Kong before returning to live in Calgary with her husband and children.

She teaches archaeology part-time at Mount Royal College/5. First 'Scion's Lady' is not as good as the first book 'Lady in Gil'. Bradley's unique writing style which made the first book interesting is still in evidence but in a diluted form. The hero Tig is there, the same as in the first book but the things that made him unique has been diluted/5(11).

Lady in Gil (Gil Trilogy, #1) by Rebecca Bradley avg rating — ratings — published — 4 editions. Galadriel was the "Lady" of the woods of Lothlórien, which she ruled with Celeborn her husband.

She was one of the greatest of the Elves in Middle-earth, surpassing nearly all others in beauty, knowledge, and power. She bore Nenya, one of the three Elven rings of power. J.R.R. Tolkien thought of her, along with Gil-galad the Elven-king, as one of the mightiest and fairest of all the Elves Actor: Cate Blanchett.

Lady in Gil. [Rebecca J Bradley] Print book: Fiction: EnglishView all editions and formats: Summary: For more than 70 years exiled Scions have returned to their beloved country to seek the Lady, conjure her powers, and reclaim their heritage.

To disguise its subject’s Jewish origin, the Nazis retitled it “The Lady in Gold” - a name taken by Anne-Marie O’Connor for her book, which traces its turbulent history. Print book: Fiction: EnglishView all editions and formats Summary: With the efforts of the exiled Scions of Oballef come to naught, it has fallen to Tigrallef, a memorian who would rather pore over a manuscript than brandish a sword any day, to find the magical statue of the Lady in Gil.

"Lady Pain" does not quite possess as wry and droll a tone as the first two books in the trilogy, "Lady in Gil" and "Scion's Lady," mainly because, as other reviewers have pointed out, this installment of the trilogy is told completely from Tig's son, Vero's, point-of-view/5(13).

Masterfully written, it satisfies the itch to speculate on more of Austens life. Gill Hornby takes the reader through a wide range of emotions and leaves them feeling as though they glimpsed in the window and spied on our precious 4/5.Kidnapping.

This was the first book I had read from this author and from looking at her previous two releases it's obvious Gill has a passion for history and a real way with words/5.
